10th Grade

Continue laying the groundwork for college by addressing the items listed below. You should continue with the work on the items you had started within the 8th and 9th grade tab.

  • Keep your grades up. Work hard on developing good study habits.
  • Keep taking solid college prep classes including English, Science, Math, Fine Arts and a foreign language.
  • Decide what things are important to you when considering a college. This can include items like programs, majors, location, cost, type of college, etc.
  • Talk to family and friends about their college experiences and potential recommendations.
  • Evaluate each school's characteristics and based on this evaluation narrow school choices to a select group.
  • At this time you should also ready yourself for the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) test by taking the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT). To learn more about the SAT and PSAT check out "Definitions" located in the SLFC Toolkit.

SLFC also provides tools that can help select a career, search for a college, calculators to assist with determining the cost of attending the college and ways to finance your education. Go to SLFC's Toolkit for assistance.
